Backroad Radio – April 9th, 2012 *3 hour show*

First off, Future sucks.
New music was heavy this week courtesy of Royale and Big Jacks. A ton of heat from: Kendrick Lamar feat. Dr Dre, Nas, Nicki Minaj, T.I., Schoolboy Q, Wiz Khalifa, Swizz Beats feat. ASAP Rocky and more including a couple brand new joints from Kanye West that have had everyone talking. Meeerrcccy!
Bozack brought head to head competition for the throwback pitting Black Moon’s “enta da stage” against Smif N Wessun’s “dah shinin”. Two classics albums but you can only choose one as your favourite, what’s your pick? The Backroad staff definitely bumped heads on this one. Wait till you hear what we said! Did we mention Future sucks?
We also had a lot of hip hop discussion this week ranging from an interview with DJ Rich Medina about his upcoming Toronto gig, the Young Jeezy concert shooting debacle, Rah Digga vs Tyler the Creator and the rumours surrounding Havoc going after Prodigy via Twitter. Hip hop, why are you so entertaining!? ha-ha *Young Jeezy laugh*

Caution Da Don & TRA Live on Backroad Radio
We had Caution Da Don and TRA (of the SARS Network) live in studio with us on Backroad Radio this week. They were in the house promoting both of their new records, TRA’s “no smiling” (prod by Frank Dukes) and Caution’s “on the corner” (feat. DJ Grouch). You might’ve heard the audio but now you can see the interview and watch these two MC’s rip it live on air. Big up the homie TRA for capturing the footage!

While the weather in Toronto is getting nicer the arrival of the Snowman this week in the city is upon us! Young Jeezy is on a Canadian tour and to mark his long awaited TO tour date we put together a special spotlight. Backroad Radio – Mar 26th, 2012 *3 HOUR SHOW*

DJ Premier is a living legend in hip hop music and one of our favourite producers (if not the best) to EVER do it in this game. He recently celebrated a bday and to commerate it we spotlighted some of his work with a tribute courtesy of Bozack Morris! The hardest thing about doing a DJ Premier set is being able to cover ALL the ground. You just can’t, not in a 3 hours let alone 20 mins. But we went through a few our of fav joints from his works of Mart and also discussed which era of Primo we felt was best. If you’re a true hip hop nerd then you’ll need to hear the set and discussion.
Toronto’s own, Twist, joined us live in studio to talk about his new album, “Hip Hop with a Twist”. He brought us up to speed with everything he’s been doing, gave us some live bars and played a couple joints off his album, which is highlighted by a ton of Rich Kidd production.
Lots of new music this week courtesy of Big Jacks and Royale. Listen up for new heat from: SWizz Beats & A$AP Rocky, Raekwon & JD Era, Crook & Rich Kidd, Wiz Khalifa, Big KRIT, Gangrene, Roc Marciano, 8ball & MJG, Puzzle & Paradox, Tyga and much more.
Lastly, monday March 26th marked the 17th anniversary of Eazy-E’s passing. We paid our respects with a couple joints and talked about how the circumstances of his death affected us. RIP EAZY.

Backroad Radio – Mar 19th, 2012

Just over a year has passed since we lost one of the greatest and most recognizable voices in hip hop history, Nate Dogg. 213 was the area code and G-Funk the era this week as we paid tribute to the legendary Nate D-O-double-G with a set from Big Jacks. With the weather being hot and sunny in Toronto right now, this was the perfect time to give you the westcoast Cali vibe with countless Nate Dogg classics. RIP.
We launched our brand new monthly segment this week called, “Get Busy”. We’ll be inviting our favourite established and upcoming DJs on the show to spolight their skills on the decks as well as pick their brain with discussion. Our very first Get Busy guest was DJ Skitz. He brought nothing but fire, so make sure to hear how he threw down and keep an eye on what he has going on over HERE
Tons of new great hip hop has dropped recently and we hit you off with lots of it this week courtesy of Royale. Peep the new heat from Wiz Khalifa, Action Bronson, Schoolboy Q, The Get By, Currensy, Big KRIT, and more.

Gotye “Somebody That I Used To Know (Bozack’s Fuck Your Life Remix)”

Here it is! My first (real) remix that I’ve released. The original is a big tune, but I’ve always felt the music was really happy compared to the lyrical content. So this is my remix of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know”. Let me know what you think. Feel free to share this as much as you can as well!
Remix + Instrumental can be downloaded: Here!
Backroad Radio – Mar 12th, 2012 *3 HOUR SHOW*

This week’s show is so BIG that we had to takeover the airwaves with 3 hours of hip hop heat for you to fit it all in, and you’re going to want to hear every single minute!
March 9th 2012 marked the 15 year anniversary of Biggie’s death so we celebrated his life with an extra heavy throwback of Biggie classics put together by DJ Royale. While we hit you with a few staple tunes we chose to dig deeper and unearth the bsides and album cuts you dont hear as often from BIG. We also discussed our fondest memories of Biggie, if he truly is the best to ever do it and our thoughts on what exactly might be happening over at Bad Boy. Is Diddy the devil!? Find out.
New music courtesy of Bozack and Big Jacks and we had A LOT of it. New bangers from: Prodigy feat. Cory Gunz, Roc Marciano, Gangrene, Big KRIT, 8ball & MJG, Bumpy Knuckles (prod. by DJ Premier), Crook & Rich Kidd, Perfeck Strangers, Tyga, Twist, and a ton of other heatrocks.
And did we mention our show was 3 hours this week!? We kept the talking to a minimum in the last hour and blessed you with pure dope joints. This is a BIG show that you need to peep.
RIP Camille Douglas
